Is that still air cooled or is it the one with one radiator on the forks?
This is a old bike and wont be even comparable to what is available today. But if you just want to have a good time it will work. Should be plenty fast. decent reliability. suspension will be just ok. Brakes will be ok too. I wold call a yamaha dealer and ask for price and availability on parts like rings, clutch plates, gasgets etc. should be easy to start if not a beater. Should wheelie very easily if not a beater. You mix the gas in a can before putting it in the bike. I mix Torco GP-7 at 40 to 1. 3.2 ozs of oil to 1 gallon of gas.

I checked out denniskirk.com and they have pistons clutches and other parts.
At a guess how fast do you think it would go if it is not a beater??
the brakes would they be drum brakes?

hi
I just got back from the city were the guy who owns the bike lives.
I drove it and at a certain RPM it just flys. I did not drive it too far because it was on a city street and there was a little bit of traffic. the guy said he had rebuilt the bottom end of the engine a little while ago. it started good about 3 or 4 kicks when it was cold. the guy was getting rid of it cause he never rides it.
He was asking $350 and it looked in good condition and the engine seemed good. plus I got a brand new rear tire that he had not put on yet. So i have bought it and will be picking it up on saturday when we have a truck with us.
It seems to be the perfect size for me in height:-).
