Default Installing Piston!

Well I got my cylinder and getting ready to go ahead and put the rings on and put the piston in. Do I need to washe the piston with warm soapy water also? The 2 rings besides the oil rings. Bronze colored and grey one, which one goes in where? What is the easiest way to slide the cylinder over piston? Any other installation tips would be appreciated. Thx.

Very informational site. I still dont know which ring goes on top and which one goes on bottom. I know the oil ring goes on the very bottom.

Or does it matter which ring goes on top or bottom. They look the same just different finishes.

I would think it matters. Can you ask the place you bought them from? And you dont need to clean the piston.

The box that the piston came in should have installation instructions. The oil ring goes on the botton, and the other two rings are the same(doesn't matter).......You do need to check the ring gap though, by putting the ring in the cylinder, and squaring it up with the piston, and then measure the gap.......It should be around .030"......

Make sure you put the gaps in the rings 180 degrees from eachother.....or just make sure they don't line up anyway......also, make sure you get the cir-clips in good on the piston.....and oil everything up good......including the cylinder, rings, and wristpin....and the top end(cams and valves)

It's a Wiseco. Didn't say anything about the other 2 rings in instructions, as far as which one goes on top or bottom. Ring gap already taken care of, shop measured it when they bored the cylinder. Rings are just two different colors thats all.
