Which one Raptor 700 or one of the 450s?

Default Which one Raptor 700 or one of the 450s?

I am trying to decide between the Raptor 700, the 06 YFZ, 06 450R, and the LT-R450. I just dont know which one to buy. I was going to buy the 700 which the dealer was going to keep for me once he got it in (this week) but now i just dont know if i want the 700 or one of the new 450s. I mainly ride big like roads that you can go basically as fast as you want, and i do some drag races. If you have any opions i would like to know them. Or any info on the 4quads. Thnks Mace

how far of a drag race?

My thoughts:

MX-YFZ 450 and LTR 450

TRAILS-Raptor 700r

A lil of both-TRX 450

Drag 300ft-YFZ 450 so far because it is all acceleration. Don't know about the LTR 450 yet.

If you funna mode, then get a Banshee for drag racing. If you would like a 4 stroke/mod it and 300ft drag, probably get the YFZ 450/LTR 450. But, wait to see how the LTR 450 is like first. For now, the YFZ 450 should be your choice.

Default Which one Raptor 700 or one of the 450s?

The Suzuki wont be out in stores until mid feb. if that helps at all the 450s will probably be really close to the same not much diffrence the 700 good backyard,trail,or drag racing bike the 450s are made to take from the dealer and race with no mods if u are going to be racing on a track alot get a 450

It depends on the drag distance. The 700R is just has a higer top speed. If it was a drag where topspeed couldnt be reached, the 450 would be a better choice.

VERY TRUE i forgot to put that on there 200 yard or less draggin 450, higher 300 yards it would be close more than 300 yards 700 would catch and win

I got a buddy with an 05 450 and another buddy with 700. They are both experienced riders and they raced. The 450 won twice out of the 2 races they had. One of the races was at least a mile long and the 450 won that one too. They were both stock except the 450 had the baffle removed. The rider on the 450 is also about 35 pounds lighter. Hope this helps.

I think the 700 would last longer and require less maintenance. Unless you're on a track I think the big raptor would work better for most people. It has much more torque and can be luged over rough sections that the 450's have a hard time getting through.

I want to see how the efi pand out long term before I accept the 700 as a quality machine ...so far not that impressed
they tend to run lean at sealevel

I don't have much experience with the 700's yet, but the mapping should stay consistent regardless of elevation and temperature. That's the whole point of EFI. If the quad is lean at sea level it should be lean at 10,000 feet. This lean condition might very well be the case and we will have to wait till power commander or some other after market maps are available for it. It would not surprise me if Yamaha went a little lean to get a little lower emission standard. I know they do this on their street bikes which keeps the after market tuners in business.
