Default Facing the HILL!

haha grizz. Heres what i do before a big hill... Relax, and gun it in 1st gear. I try to avoid shifting and I dont lean up on handle bars because it increases the chances of you fumbling up the throttle or clutch but thats just personal preferance. Ive lost traction by hitting a log and I did flip it, if ur quad does this TUCK AND ROLL lol... NEVER try to save the quad from flipping because majority of the time it wins =) Trust me... haha. Good luck with your hill.

Default Facing the HILL!

When i ride my friends V force up the hill and hit something, usually a log/tree stump, the back kicks up. Is this normal for the back to bump instead of the front. When this happens, it is impossible for me to make it up again. I just lost all the speed that i had. So, other times, i try to do a little lifting up of the front, not a wheelie because i dont want to flip it over. With that, i just go right over it with at least some speed to keep going. So, is a 4x4 ute. better than 2x4 sports up hill?

i like using sport quads to go up hills... you can get a faster start if your "runway" is short, and they are easier to maneuver because of their weight... plus, picking your gear is also an advantage to the automatic shifting. JMO

my advise would be to start with smaller hills until you are not nervous and work at bigger and more difficult hills throughout time.i myself sit on seat and work clutch ,gas ,and shift my body back and forth on seat UNLESS front comes up which i stand and lean forward to drop front ,usually at this point i break traction in the back (2-stroker). this is where experience comes in knowing how much weight distribution to get rolling along at a clip again! with my bike i usually hit bottom in 3rd rippin with speed(under control) and IF it starts to drop rpm MILDLY hit 2nd and crank it! my machine will almost always maintain a balance of speed and tire spin to climb MOST ANTHING in 2nd gear.if you find yourself needing 1st gear on hills,i would highly suggest dropping down one tooth on front. because if you go from 2nd gear to the infamous N instead of 1st,you are almost definately screwed!!!get your gearing so you use 3rd and 2nd on steeper hills so you WONT bump neutral(rollovers are inevitable). i dont care about top speed on my machines at all , I MUST MAKE THE HILLS !!!(less $$$$$$$ on parts lol). the toughest hills are not straight and steep , they are twisty and rocky with obsticles. those are the ones that make you go yeah when you get to the top and stop bike with the shakes....I LOVE IT !!!
