Default Warrior run problems

I bought a 2002 warrior that needed a motor. Found a worked and running 1998 motor locally. To use it in the 2002 we just changed the whole cover W/stator. The problem is it idel fine but when you give it throttle it back fires out the exaust and don't pick up rpm's. Did I need to do something other than just swap stators? The carb had a little water in it from sitting, But seems clean now. I think when i got the bike i bumped the throttle and it sprayed a nice wide pattern with the accelerator now it is just a small straight stream. Has nice strong spark. Any ideas would be a great help...Thanks
