Default Raptor??? Good or Bad for a first time bike

I am wanting to get my wife a quad, and was thinking about a Raptor 350. She has only ridden an older Warrior ( and liked it). While looking at them I saw the Suzuki 400 and thought that might be good too, then I thought about not having 2 different brands, because I am buying me a YZF450. Does anyone think having 2 different brands is a big deal or cause issuse on maintenance??? Any Raptor riders out there???

Raptor 350 is good but the z400 is better in every department...better motor, better suspension, better handling. The 350 is so different than your YFZ450 that it doesn't matter that it is a Yamaha or any other brand. You are going to have the same learning curve for repairs and I doubt it has any more parts in common with the 450 than a z400 would have. Tools are tools so that doesn't make a difference.

If you love her, go with the z400; otherwise, get her the 350 and spend the extra dough on mods for your 450.

I have 3 different brands and they all have been good. I keep mine maintained and there not abused because I hate walking when not necessary. I think I would go with the Z400 for the long term.

go with the z, more power, better handling. Also you can run lower octane fuel, thanks to more meodern technology

the raptor 350 is a dissappointment IMO. the same as a warrior but a better cam, suspension and a lil lighter. thats it. And you have to pay like double what a used warrior is. Sure it LOOKS better.. but it doesnt perform that much better. If she loved the warrior.. then get her a warrior.. its way cheaper and u get basically the same performance. If she wants more power, go with the KFX/Z 400.. its a whole totally different bike that she'll def keep forever.
-edit- or if shes like me, shell b used to teh KFX power and want to upgrade again to a raptor 660. lol

Even a 400ex would be better than a rap 350. The newer ones are pretty nice and they are cheap! You only buy rap 350 for the looks.
