Should I buy a Kodiak 450?
I am a first time buyer and am having a real hard time deciding between the Kodiak 450 and the Outlander 400 HO. The Outlander 5 year free warranty right now is realy enticing.
Anyways, for those who have the Kodiak, can you please give me some feedback as you what you like and don't like about it?
Thanks

Should I buy a Kodiak 450?
i have the 450 kodiak (its an 03' without IRS) and my brother has an outlander 400:
i love the diff lock on the 450-the bomb supposedly has one with its visco lok, but i have yet to see it be truely locked up
-the outlander has a super comfy seat in comparison
-the outlander doesnt have much low end power but the power gets wicked in higher rpms
-the kodiak is more nimble through tight trails
-the outlander has the best suspension of any quad i have ever ridden-IMO
-the outlander doesnt like to start as compared with my kodiak-the bomb takes many attempts to start while the yamaha only takes one push of the button-every time
-i bought the yamaha because i wanted a sporty ride with all terrain capability and it delivers, the bomb is not as sporty, is more comfortable, and its cheaper
i dont know what type of riding you are into, but i don think either bike will disappoint-hope this helps 450kodman

I've had my '05 450 for going on a year now. I really enjoy riding it. The IRS on the '05 and up makes a big difference in the ride. The seat cushion could be a little softer. The selectable locker is alot of fun too. Its like pushing that little button boosts your confidence level as well as locks the diff. I haven't ridden the Outlander, so I can't speak on that one, but you won't be dissapointed with the Kodiak.

I have had 2 - 450 kodiaks (05's) for a year now and they have been problem free. I've had them up to the lights in water many times. We rode them all through last winter, with the addition of 26" mud lights, and there is lots of snow where I am. ( just have to pick your routes ) They would start in -20 degrees temperatures. I use them to pull my 18 foot sport boat around my property as well as haul good size trailer loads of firewood out of the bush. I also plowed my 1,000 foot driveway last winter. They come recommended by me for sure.

I love my kodiak. Very fun and no problems. I like how easy it is to manuver through tight spots. Has enough power for me and that locker sure does save you some times I wouldn't buy on warrantee if thats your deciding factory as I found Yamahas to be very reliable. They all probable could offer 5 year warrantees and you would never use it. I would decide more on other factors first. What ever you choose you will have fun with!

I have the 06 Kodiaks and love them...I down sized from a 700 and moved my wife from a honda 400at..Best move I've made.Kodiak is a good choice.
The Outlander is a good choice as well......My only thought of the 400 OUTY is that it's as big as a Kawi V-twin for a similar price. The V-twins power is well worth a look.
The BF 650i is IRS and FAST!
