Raptor 700R Break In Question
#1
Does the ECU for the EFI system have a program that limits fuel until the quad has a certain number of hours on it? I was a little disappointed in the performance until I got about 10 to 15 hours on it. The difference was not the typical loosening of components. One morning we took it out on the sand and it felt like a 660, the next it pulled like a YFZ450. Any explanation? I picked up 3 - 4 quad lengths on our race hill against my buddy's YFZ450 when this happened.
I am curious to hear your thoughts.
(No this isn't a gag like my last thread. I am serious)

Seriously though, I don't think it does. It could be that you were getting better at your launches and started short shifting it, that makes a big difference. I know at first I had a tendency to overrun the power band till I got used to it and started short shifting and let the torque do the work. Were you still running on the chity 87 oct reg. that the dealer puts in when they service it up? I know going to 92 premium made a seat of the pants difference in mine. I didn't ride mine much before I started moddin it so well have to see what other 700R owners have to say.

Mine seemed to do the same thing. It gets faster every time I take it out. Its in for its first service now. Going with synthetic.

My dealer had me bring mine in at like 5-8 hrs to make sure everything is still tight. I always though that you should have your first oil change pretty early bc of the new engine and maybe get rid of some small metal pieces that may have came loose during break in time

They sell synthetic for quads but there is certain oils that will screw up the clutch

I got my 700 back today from its first service. They put yamalube full synthetic in it. Its like $8.50 a quart! They also adjusted my valves. They said my intake valves were pretty tight. Im going riding this weekend. I pretty much go every weekend even though its below freezing now. I just cant get enough!
