Default Cam chain problems

My mechanic is trying to get my motor back together and we are having problems getting the cam chain falling into the teeth on the bottom gear. Its right under the gear, just wont fall into the teeth. Mechanic thinks the chain is stretched and thats why it wont fall into place so we ordered a new one. Anyone have any idea if this could be the problem? What else should I replace? cam gear?

Default Cam chain problems

if it were me and i was having those problems, i would surely pull the case off and then pull the flywheel off and check, cuz it should IMMEDIATLEY line up and have no slack, do you have your cam chain adjuster removed???

Default Cam chain problems

no cam chain tensioner, just the bare cylinder with piston is installed. I think we might have to pull off the flywheel and stuff and check it out. When I did the piston/cam install the first time, I had no problem getting the chain back onto the gear. The damn chain just slides over the stupid gear
