Default Striped bolt

I was tring to take my DG engine skidplate off my YFZ and i noticed the 2 back bolts had fallen out. From all the bashing the skid got pushed back a little and bent the front hex bolts a tinny bit making them very hard to get out. i got one out but accidenty stiped the head on the other one. how do i get it out.

I've had to use a dremel to cut into a bolt so I could just grab it with vise-grips to get it out. It helps to put a regular torch to heat it first too.

On other occasions, I've ground the whole head off. You can normally grab it at this point with vise-grips and get it out since the pressure has been relieved.

There is a tool at Sears you can buy that basically cuts into the stripped head and will typically extract the bolt. The name of it slips my mind right now but the guys in the tool department will help you. You can cut a slot in the head and try a slotted screwdriver. Lube the thread to provide a little help.

These "sockets" work extremely well. They work better than regular sockets. Snap-on Tools came out with them about 6 years ago, and many mechanics thought very highly of them.

These sockets grab on the outside of the hex portion of the bolt. No drilling is required, as with the conventional "easy outs".
