2" or 4" swingarm for my 660 raptor
#1
does any one know what would be better to keep the front end down on my 05 660 raptor? a 2" longer swingarm or a 4" swingarm? everyone I speak with at the motor shops really cant give me a clear answer. before I spend the addtional money, I would like some feedback to make me feel more comfortable about my next buy.

I have a Tucker +4 on my dirt Raptor......I'm able to toss it around on the trails without any problems......
I had the same issue with the front end wanting to wheelie when it was time to put the power to the ground....(i.e. Hillclimbs)
My +4 works great for ALL the riding i do.....Good Luck

Having ridden both lengths quite a few times I have to say I prefer the +2 for the trails, it seems to handle much better and turn a lot quicker without having to break the rear end loose. The +4 is great in the dunes and hills, and really helps in drag races.
There was a post almost identical to this one just a few days ago in this forum, I suggest you look it up. If I remember correctly everyone else declared their preference for a +4, although only some members had ridden both.

I do mostly trail riding in Western PA Tri-state area. The terain is a combination of hills and rocks. I'm 5'10" - standing @ 180lbs and even down hills I cant keep the front end down... I love the bike and the power. But, this Yamaha 660 Raptor was not balanced correctly from the Factory. And for that reason, I'm leaning more towards the 4" extension instead of the 2".
Thanks for the help.

a i have 686 with +5 swingarm thing handles grate made bike lower i can hit throttle off the line all that torqe goes to the ground where it needs to be instead of the front end up in the air.i can blast out the corners like almost the 450 the bike stays down has a better feel know so more responsive.

I agree that the 660 wasn't balanced properly. I think Yamaha was trying to gain market share on the 400EX at the time. So they gave it the same front to back weight ratio. The problem is that the 660 has loads more torque and a higer CG which made the front end uncomfortably light.
They seem to have fixed the problem with the 700R. The wheel base is 50.4” campared to 49.0” on the 660... and the CG is lower. If you compare them on the show room, the difference in wheel base is all in the swing arm. All I want is for the bike to lurch forward instead of rock back when you add power.
That is why I went with the +2. I was just trying to correct Yamaha's design error among other corrections. I haven't installed it yet so I can't give a report yet. But, that that's my line of thinking.

hillshooter, is that in english? and look at it this way a +4 will keep you front end down more, but render your turning ability, +2 you will have more wheelies and more turning. i love my +4, wouldnt trade it for a +2...EVER.
