Welcome to the forums and, you are running lean, whenever you add a filter and run with no lid you should rejet.. idk how much to correct the jetting for.. but what if your location, season, average temp, and elevation if possible.. this will help with the people who know jetting well. Unfortunitely i have never jetted a big bore bike so i have no idea.

Don't by the Yamaha shop manual. The information is great, but it lacks on helpful hints. Go buy a Clymer shop manual. It will tell you everything you need to know.

Is the filter the only thing you replaced, or did you replace the pipe too? If all you did was replace the filter and remove the lid, which would mean installing a pro-flow filter system, then you are running lean. You can probably make the adjustments on the needle without having to adjust your pilots, but you may have to adjust your fuel screws.

First things first, go buy a manual. As for the needles, try dropping the clip down to the third or fourth position from the top. And you'll want to turn your fuel screws out to 2 1/2 or 3 turns.

The needles can be accessed easily enough by removing your front plasitic and fuel tank. Unscrew the tops of the carb and remove the slide. The needle clips into this. Be careful when removing the needle clip and spacer, don't drop them or bend the clips.

The fuel screws are underneath the carbs, on the front side. You will have to remove the carbs to get to them. Screw them in all the way, remembering how many screws they were out, and then bring them to 2 1/2 or 3. Try this.

But if you also removed the lid, then you will most likely have to go up a few sizes in your mains.

I've got a clymer and I'm not impressed. Why? Well because on more than one page and more than one part the Clymer manual doesnt show raptor parts. It's fun trying to find torque specs and count bolts when the head they show isnt from a 660 raptor...

If you get a clymer, make sure you have a yamaha factory manual to back it up, at least on the computer which you can download all over for free.
