Default How Black is your oil?

So i change my oil for my cars and dirt bike and my new raptor 660r (well new for me) and i was just wondering how long it usally takes for the oil to get really black.

The reason is i'm worried that my oil is getting black to soon. I changed it about 1 month ago and i don't ride it that much but i changed the filter and used motul 5100. but its black already. IS this normal or is my oil getting to black too soon.

My car doesn't go black for quite some time.

Well hope some one can help me.

65,

You have a 4 stroke engine. If you are checking and replacing the oil regularily, you will have no problems. I am a psycho and I replace my oil probably every 5th ride. I know guys who replace their oil every year whether they need it or not. Oil changes and air filter cleans are cheap insurance. I use the excuse to wrench on the quads to get out of the house. Don't worry about the color in a month unless you think you have an engine problem.

Ride more, wrench less.

There is only two reasons that will cause oil in a gasoline engine to turn black prematurely.

#1. Poor ring seal.
#2. An over rich condition with the fuel system.

Either one, or both of these will cause the oil to go black early.
