Hey, I'm just getting into quads, I willb e moving to the Bandon Dunes area of Oregon this summer and will be getting some quads, right now I've narrowed it down to the Yamaha Raptor 700 and the YFZ 450. What I ask is which do you recomend for a newb like me, which has the higher acceleration rate in the dunes, and for my build (6' 1" 145 lbs) fits me better. I am young btw. Also, I'm not afraid in anyway of the extra horses in the 700.

I've been reading around, and I am wondering how the 700R performs in the dunes? I noticed people have been saying that the 450 is better for dunes but I thought more horses = better dune capabilaties. Right?

Weight is about the only thing that makes even more of a difference in sand than horsepower does. The power difference between a YFZ and Raptor is negligible, but the Raptor weighs 50 lbs more, so it isn't any faster and can't climb the big dunes any better. Some would argue it isn't as good.
