Good Bye Dirtbikes! Move out of the way!

I have to say that in all the years I have been riding I have owned quite a few dirtbikes, ATV's and even superbikes, and I have to say for some reason I always come back to ATV's. I don't know if it is because I fine them more challenging, able to handle more dynamic terrain, or maybe it is because my kids are getting old enough to be able to ride with me and I can now share my experiences with them. Nevertheless these are good days to be in the ATV industry.
Just a couple years ago a die hard dirtbike fan would caim there is no way that ATVs would ever steal the lime-light from supercross or motocross events and yes I even use to get the teasing comments too on why did I need to ride a bike with training wheels (ATV). But with todays technology ATV's have finally leaped beyond dirtbikes. With the advent of fuel injection on ATV's and now standard 10"+ shocks ATV's are not only in the same category with dirtbikers but are surpassing them in many regards. The US has been for a couple years outselling motorcycles with ATV's and now this year Europe has followed. I have seen more and more new 450's smoking dirtbikes at the local tracks, not to mention the population of dirtbikes at Attica, IN has slowly dwindled and been replaced with fellow ATVers. I have also noticed less dirtbikers in places like Waynoka, OK in the dunes. I have also noticed at places like Dreyer Motorsports in Indianapolis that dirtbike videos are losing their luster and being replaced with more ATV videos. I was at Dreyer just yesterday and 3/4 of all the videos there were Huevos series and misc. other ATV market videos.
So I guess the next time that dirtbiker pulls up to you and asks you why you have training wheels on your bike just ask them why they aren't riding a real 2 wheel machine on the road like a roadbike or a 140+hp sportbike...

ATV's are more fun recreationally. All the dirtbike guys I have ridden with have been whiners. (Especially when it starts to get dark). ATV folk seem to be more robust, forgiving, easy going and just plain fun to be around. Bikes are not so much. This is obviously due to their machine of choice.
Yeah, there is no competition between a bike and an atv in a mx or drag racing situation.
However, on jeep roads, we on the ATVs leave the dirtbikes in the dust. You have to wait for them. Then, when they show up, they complain cause we are not riding single track. Big F#%@ing deal. Go ride your 15 mph single track you sissies! Make sure you put all off your padding on so you don't bruise your ******* when you crash!
Let's face it, for recreational use, you will have more fun on an ATV.

I would love to see a dirtbike beat a full bore drag banshee. No way that can ever happen. It's physically impossible. There isn't enough contact patch in the sand.

Maybe you ought to do a quick google search then and see what Barry Hawk said about his ATV being faster than his bike.

I read that in dirtwheels, but in dirtbike it was a draw. You dont believe everything you read in the mags do you?
