Another problem with the blaster. PLEASE HELP
#1
OK. well my problem is that i was out riding and i burnt a hole in my piston. i have a Hot Rod +4mm stroker crank. wiseco prolite piston bored .50 over, FMF pipe, Uni filter with open air box, roost boost electronics (better spark or something like that), vito's degree key, and vito's 300 main jet. and i was running a B7ES for a plug with the mixture at 40:1. i know that number 7 plug and mixture at 40:1 didnt help matters but my question is im getten all kinds of different answers from the people ive askd. i called vito's tech line and they told me too run a vito's 340 main jet with a number 8 plug with the mixture at 32:1, another place told me too just leave the vito's 300 main jet in there that i have and change the mixture back too 32:1 and run a number 8 plug and ill be fine, and they said too run a number 9 plug in the summer because rite now its winter here in P.A., I am yet lost once again on what i should do and need help. what should i do so that i dont burn another hole in my piston and who is rite vito's or the place where i get all my parts from. i really appreciate the help you can give me. thanks -Dan

yes. but my question wasnt that. where should i go next. different places give me different answer's. im just trying too find the best way too go so that this doesnt occur again, this is becoming frustrating since i just fixed it and havent ridden it much. where should i go with my fuel/oil mixture stay at 40:1 or go too 30:1? which plug should i run or which jet should i start out at so that i dont burn another hole in the piston?

IMHO:
Hole in piston means too lean of an air/fuel ratio. That does not mean that the oil mixture is incorrent. Scarring of cylinder walls or premature bearing wear, would possibly indicate not enough oil.
At a bare minimum, I would go to the larger main jet. To be safe, I would also go with the cooler plug. Ride it and check for proper plug color. Try to achieve a cardboard color. Adjust accordingly.

Dan, I have a Toomey pipe and open air box on my Blaster, like yours. I ran a 310 and was thinking of going higher. In the winter cold, you may need to go to 340-360. I ran a 340 in like 10 degree cold. I had a 310 in that cold and it leaned it out enough to melt the piston too. I don't know where you're riding though, your weather
