Default Raptor Reverse light on/off

I have an 01 Raptor. Lte duals's with stage one cam and airbox lid off. Basically it moves pretty good. I rode it today and I was hammering along and then all of the sudden the stupid reverse light would go on, the bike would stall a little then the light would go off and I was flying again. I am going to take it to the shop next week. But would like to know if anyone has experienced this problem before. I got 45hp and it moves but to have it cut out
more often than not recently has me in a stupor. I rode it a month ago and it was fine. Five hours straight with no problem. What does this reverse light have to do with my performance? Also how do I rectify the situation? Lastly, I was thinking about buying that new reverse lever for the Raptor and having the shop install it. That might take care of the problem. Also, reverse works fine and engages fine.

Sounds like a bad connection to the switch.

check the wiring toward the bottom rear of the motor, that is where the problem usually is.

it's going to the Yamaha Dealer for Service. they most likely will trouble shoot the faulty wire and replace it. Going in next Tuesday. Will keep you posted.

I have had the same problem with my reverse light coming on and off, I quickly found out that the problem is your air gas mixture it only comes on if the mixture is out of wack. So if you put a cam in and no jet kit it will screw up the the mixture when you are on the gas, or if you put a jet kit in and don't adjust the air gas mixture. Believe me that is your problem. You are probably have your mixture to rich lean it out a little bit and it should solve your problem, if not purchase a jet kit if you don't have one, I recommend a stage 2 that's what I have, It works great.

I have a lot of experience working on raptors if you have any questions related to what I said E-mail me.

i have the same problem with mine and the dealer told me that it was nothing to worrie about so i went and go another opinion and they said that it was a "service light" to let me know that there was someting rong with the trans. so i decided to ride it and its been fine for about 2 months and the light came on everyonce in a while

Update.
I have it in the shop and they are going to disconnect and ground the wire. Like Sand Wizards article. No reverse light but all power all of the time with no rev limiter for reverse. Burnouts in reverse, cool.
I pick it up in a couple of days. I'll let you know .
