Default 06/05 Kodiak 450 4x4

I was looking into some 4x4's for my dad, and was wondering what everybodys's thoughts were on this quad.

Is there a difference in the 05/06?
Is it a good price for the quad?
Is it worth having or, spend an extra 900 bucks for a Grizzly?
Is there any flaws in the bike?
Is there a better 4x4 out in this price range?

Any comments would be great.

Hey URCRAZY...I currently have an '05 450 Kodi and my wife has an '05 400 Kodi. These are great machines. There no changes between '05 and '06 on the 450 Kodi's. As for pricing...not sure, i'm in Ontario. Should your dad spend the extra $$$ on a Grizz...it depends what he wants to do...trail ride, mud, work etc...Went on a poker run this weekend and my Kodi went everywhere the big bore bikes went. The Hi/Lo tranny and Difflock worked awesome. Hell, my wife followed on her 400 with no problems. I haven't heard of any major problems. Only one recall on ball joint rubber and it was replaced, no charge. The Kodi's are a very reliable machine. I too love my kodiak although maybe the grizzly would have more screwin around power...the kodiak 450 is a solid machine with little or no problems...it also has all the features of the bigdogs minus the 60-70mph power

Hi guys,
I'm looking at an 06 right now with 200 miles on it. The guy won't come down at all from 5000, (asking 5500 to start with). There is not a plow or winch on his machine, but it is camo. I will be using it to plow and hunt and trail ride. Should I take the plunge or make him wait and maybe lose the chance? My highest offer was 4700. The other atv I'm considering is the Eiger. There is a place about 1.5 hours from me that will sell me one with the plow & winch for 6218.72 OTD including tax & Reg. Tax is 9.5% where I live. The Eiger would be black, which is fine with me. I know this is a Yama thread, but honestly, which is the better deal? I have never owned an atv and this will be my first.
Thanks

That is a good price on the kodiak cuase mine was $5400 plus all the Bullchit to get it out the door like $6700 yeah..Alot of money, but I am not sure I would be happy with any less....The suzuki makes a good quad that Eiger but it's not a Kodiak 450

Yes looking around this looks like the best quad. Suzuki has that 500 for a little cheaper, but I dont think it has as good of options as this Kodiak. What do you people think?

Great machine. Have had mine for about 3 months. Rides great in all areas. Have had it just under 4000 ft and it runs like a champ. I don't see much of a difference riding around 8 to 9000 feet either. Maybe just a little less get up and go but I've been doing much better then my buddies kodiak 400 and another polaris 500. That locking diff is the ****. Gets me out of the snow every time. Top speed for me so far is about 56. Going to rejet for over 6000 cause im mostly riding at 6-8 thousand. Hope this helps...

i had two kodiaks an 03 & 05 theywere great now i have an 06 grizzly I think the ride is much nicer on the grizz and the brakes are alot better being the back brake is right on the drive shaft and alot more trunk space on my grizz than the kodiak and i still have the 05 kodiak for my wife it 's a great handling machine for the trails

Dude I hope you scooped up that 06 for 5K. In Alaska that would be a steal.

I did buy the 06 for 5k. I love it too. I have put it to good work with some food plots and such. I will get the plow for it later in the year. It is amazing how much fun it is just to rip around on this little bugger. Very glad I made the purchase.
