HP numbers are nice but, at what RPM are these numbers achieved? The blaster, like any 2-stroke, reaches its peak HP at a much higher RPM. Meaning, even though the HP numbers may be closer, the RPM range in which peak HP is achieved is much narrower. Compare the dyno sheets from any Raptor to any Blaster. You will see that the Raptor creates more HP at a lower RPM and sustains it for longer.
The torque numbers should also be looked at. High HP numbers are nice when you are bench racing but, torque is what moves mass. A Raptor produces gobs of torque. A Blaster, not so much.

ok my buddy has a 2004 blaster bored over to a 240. he has 6.5 thousand invested into the motor alone. i have a 2005 raptor that at the time was stock. we raced down strait 2 mile dirt road. the only time he was in front me was when he took off. holeshot thats it. at the end of the road i had to wait about 20-30 seconds for him to catch up. hands down the rappy will win. first hand experience.

p.s the blasters are one of the most unrealiable atvs out there. my buddy sold his for 2000$ because he got sick of fixing it. raptors are very reliable

 

I would say blaster all the way. 6 gears, alot lighter, more hp. And I dont get where you think putting on a wider axle makes you faster. Most drag machines use stock axles and have the wheels flipped around to put the offset inside to make the machine narrower. A narrow machine puts more power to the ground. And you say you beat a modded blaster before, well it depends on the rider and the tires. If you have a set of holeshots, or something like that, compared to a set of factory radials the radials grab way better but dont turn as well. If you have a wider axle try a set of ohtzu radials, factory honda tires, you wont be dissapointed. Unless you ride on alot of sharp rocks then you'll be p*ssed. Im not trying to downgrade your craptor, as you can see I own one too.

 

I'm sure a really decked out Blaster could make 40HP but being air cooled, I doubt it will live at that HP level for a very long time, like somone else said that Blaster was built to race and I'm going to assume a long race will really start to take it's toll. If it does make 40HP even if the rappy has a pipe and filter I doubt it will win due to the weight factor, unless the rider dosen't know how to control the spin factor.

 

240 blaster and raptor ima go with a blaster but if u put a 7mm stroker in the blaster then itll kill it my naibors got a raptor with a fmf pipe and he beats my 240 blaster not by much but he does

why is this even an arguement, go F#*%'n race a blaster and find out. theres no replacement for displacement. and to whom ever stated that the blaster was faster top end because it has 6 gears, i challenge any blaster to a top speed race, I'll do 103 with my gearing the way it is, i had my buddy on a gsxr 1000 next to me(just got the 686 kit from CPR racing). and before i got the 686 i was doin 90+ going up a hill with a Subaru STI in front clockin me. so you decide what you'd rather dump all your money in, LOL

103MPH on a CRAPTOR!! haha I'll try you in a race. You can pick either one of my Hondas to go against that yammy. Of course I dont think you'll pick the death trap. I got ya by at least 100hp lol. 103 in a craptor with 14-40 sprockets hmmm lets see, by my calculations that means your CRAPTOR must redline at about 14k. Whos building your cranks, NASCAR haha
