i have a 97 warrior and i just recently rode it for the first time this year. I rode it for a while before realizing that there was a steady flow of gass coming out of the runoff hose located at the bottom of my carb. I took it apart and sprayed it out with an air compresser and then carb. cleaner.i also took out the jets and sprayed them too but when i put them back in i just screwed them down and didnt do it to any certain specification, does this matter? I checked the tang and it was set in the right place and there didnt seem to be anything wrong with the float either. What else could be the problem, What will i have to replace. Also would buying a bigger jet kit increase speed or power or how does that work? Any advice would be much appreciated, Thanx.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the above..did you measure the float level?
After sitting for that length of time I would guess that the float valve is sticking or defective. Did you remove this valve when cleaning the jets? If not, you might do this. If the valve is sticking or just worn it will not close even tho the float has risen to the proper level, thereby allowing fuel to drain from the overflow. It is recommended when replacing the float valve to replace it with the seat as a unit.
I 'd think that a good soaking of the valve in carb cleaner for a few hours would solve the problem.
As to the torque on the jets, just a moderate amount is all that is necessary to avoid stripping the brass threads and insuring that they stay in place
