I suggest 14/40 sprockets for 22" rear tire, or 15/40 for 20" rear. 21" is an uncommon rear tire size so stick to the even numbers

Stock gearing is just too low. No top speed, and you have to shift a lot more than is really necessary.

Recons suggestions are solid, and the reasoning is spot on.

I didnt buy my warrior new so I had to deal with the things the previous owner had etc, and since he was smart enough to know to change the tires out (it was old enough that I dont think there would have been any rubber left on the stockers anyhow lol) and some other stuff that was both good and some that just wasnt so good.

Original problem was that the rear tires were 20" and it still had the stock gearing. It was crazy in 1st as you would be able to climb over the most uneven or rough terrain in gear without any concern to the clutch because it was like you were in slow motion replay. I have to admit it was usefull a couple times, but the same ratio destroyed the top speed, and as I found out later didnt help in the other gears either.

I dont remember if I changed to the smaller rear or bigger front sprocket first, but I do remember immediately knowing on the first seconds riding it that it made a big difference, and I wasnt shifting as much.

I look at it like the first change made up for the tire size difference, and the second one for the normal low gearing of this quad. Unlike most mods that cost a ton of money, and many that require other mods like re jetting etc this one was cheap, easy and actually worked with the normal power delivery thru the rpm range of the engine so there really isnt any down side to it.

And if for some reason you dont like the change all you need to do is swap out the sprocket and you will have the original ratio in no time, but I dont expect that to happen.

That should all be fine, I run JT sprockets and an x-ring chain and I don't have any complaints. Just don't forget to keep it cleaned and lubed.
