In NY, you can ride your quad on the road. All you need is the registraton, plate, insurance (I think... I'll have to verify the insurance thing, but since cars need it - quads may as well), operators license and a mirror - one of my brother's friends put a dentist mirror on his quad and rode it on the road.

Well it sounds like there may be a little background to this story...If you have ever ridden that thing on the road before and gotten complaints or multiple complants, you live in a residential area...so its easy to point out who you are for those homosexual neighbors out there. But if you truly havent, and they took it thinking it was someone else and they make that mistake, you can get them on racial profiling, be sure to get their badge number. BUT, if none of that ever happened and this is how the story went...then those sons a bitches need to pull that cro bar outa their asses and realize what a frickin mistake they made. I mean really, it has been stated already...The town must feel 100 percent safer now that the kid who cleaned his bike on the street has no bike to clean anymore! Or any safer for that matter. But what i dont get is why they would have an unarked car unless they have been trying to get you for a while. This is all just really weird. Where i live, the police dont care if you ride your bike on really any road as long as it isnt a main route like an interstate. But no body complains around here so its like..normal.

 

the reason there is unmarked cars is because down the block LITERALLY is a 20mile priserve that is just filled with trails. and when ever cops try to catch someone on the street they just run into the trails. so that cops try to sneak out on them. quads are really busy around my neighborhood. quads and dirtbikes and other illegal vehicles fly by my house all day. and everyday a cop will knock on my door saying its me and ill let him feel my exsaught i get warned not to ride it i tell him i dont.

Your not going to just let them keep it are you? Take them to court if you have to b/c this is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard, you can get it back if you try hard enough. It's not right to just be able to take someone's quad that has a lot of retail value.

For the most part, I respect cops...but it's when they do things like this that loses a lot of that respect. If a cop tried to impound my ATV for it just sitting there like that I think my temper would get the better of me, why? because that isn't fair. I would just tell them I'm going to move it and if that didn't work....well lets just say when cops push their luck in a situation like this they shouldn't expect the owner of the $3k- $4k quad to cooperate, and they should expect trouble, they are just asking for trouble.

 

I thought you said you had the wheels off? In the pics the wheels are magically back on! Ypu put the wheels back on so they could load it and then didn't give up the key? Then you say it was in 5 th gear, you get in 5 th down the drive? I don't like these kinds of stories because they are full of funny items like that. Besides all that, why does your mother get the ticket? you are the one who violated the law not her. Your story has many holes in it, if you are a minor you can be issued the ticket, not your mother, I think theres a lot more here than what your telling us. So come clean and tell us the real story

 

werd, i think what really happened was he rode it up and down the street and saw the cop, raced home, grabbed buckets, and then played it off on the cop that he was taking off the wheels to clean em.

the wheels were off when the cop came over to him he said put the tires on were impounding it so he put them on so when they pulled the quad it would be on the hubs and get messed up because they are not responsible so would u rather put the tires on or let them drag it on the hubs come on buddy common sense and also his mom got the ticket because he is underage if he were 16 he would get tickets up the bong hole and he did not give them the key cause the people at the prescient would mess around and ride it so why give a key?
