NEW GRIZZ... 700 FI

Did "not steppn on anyones toes mean anything lol". I also said I liked my Kodiak but the only stone reliable machine yamaha manafactured IN MY OPINION was the Moto 200 lol. My neighbor has one lol. I can be the king of maintenance and babying if i want becase hey, i owned a pre cv joint sportsman....u count the zerk fittings eh? And using a farmer for an example is the best damn idea my friend, while your babying and nursing your 4-wheeler like a newborn he's out riding, working, and concentrating on furthering profit. It's the bonafide way to find out whats tough i think. When he traded in his 98 foreman 450 and 98 trx 300 the foreman had 8860 miles on it and had the engine rebuilt once. The 300 was rode twice as much so u do the math. And funny as your comment was your right, oil checks, diff gear oil checks, etc were few and far between. The damn axle had lots of free play inside the rear pumpkin where gear oil drained out lol. Now his grizzly is falling apart way before the lil 6000mile mark, heck even my "junky ole polaris" hit 6800 before i quit riding it(And no im a honest fella i dont bullmess ya). I didnt baby it and check the oil every day or week for that matter and the engine ran like new at those miles, so did every other i seen. Thats MY experience I think many will agree with this statement > Every manafacture shouldnt leave behind the toughness of atvs of old with all this new computer everything and plastic everything..........Remember the good ole Honda 350 foreman 4x4 with a SFA...yea Solid Front Axle lol. Thing was a moose heh. BUT SOMEONE ANSWER ME THIS...am i right #1 Honda #2 Polaris? Dont want no fightn or arguing just askin. good ridin

My Polaris is doing O.K., but I only have 1200 miles on it around the farm. It's a 98 model 500 sp.. I did'nt really start riding it till last year. (On the trails) My friends have all had Polaris, and they got rid of them because they where tired of working on them. Polaris is a good innovator, but they are not that depenable if you ride them hard. At least that's what I see. My friends 2000 SP500 stay's broke down. He does ride it hard though. But, know harder than I want to ride mine. I have seen some Kawi's take a lot of abuse and keep on ticking, along with honda and yamaha. So no, I would not rate Polaris near the top.

I agree skjarvis. Polaris SUX!!! This is a Yamaha post!!!!! They do come out with some nice stuff. But they are not dependable. My last atv was a SP500, and it stayed in the garage. Wish I would have never owned that thing. My friends have had them also, and there just junk. This is a Yamaha post, so I don't mean to bash Polaris, but. I have seen, just about everything on a Polaris break. I have seen more of them being towed out of the woods, than all the other atv's made. They do have some great idea's but, there not dependable if you ride them hard. They may be great for the farmers but, on the trail, they don't handle the abuse, PERIOD!!!! I agree, I have seen some Kawi's go through heck and back. Along with Yam,Hon, and Suzuki. Polaris is just not going to handle an abusive rider like Yam,Hon,Kawi, and Suzuki. I don't know about AC, but I have seen the rest in action, many a times in my life!!!!

all I can say about POlariS is that without poor old lari, you are left with a POS! I have no respect for them. I have three buddies who ride them because one guys uncle owns Schauer Power in Union Grove, Wisconsin. Any thing that is bolted to the chassis has broken. But you can't tell a brand loyal guy nothing. He just got the SP800 and I own the Outlander 800. After whooping on him awhile all he could say was he could out tow me. We have yet to see. I believe to many people are reading about 4 wheelers instead of riding them! You can get a lemon with any brand. Even though I dislike Polaris, It is still better to have buddies to ride with, than to ride alone no matter what machine they ride. I was hoping for a Grizzly 800 because I love mud and speed.

Well everyone's experience to their own. Am i correct on this industry rating, because a couple years back i know for a fact i was right #1Honda but declining #2 Polaris and then third yamaha. I kept readn people talking about yamaha grizzly reliability. Erm im not stompn on no toes but you folks probably flat out do not dish out the abuse and extensive riding my best friend (farmer) does. He has an '04 grizzly that has been less than reliable. When i tell you its had two engine replacements in 5450 miles i mean exactly THAT. Lemon? No, There are several other grizs 30miles north of us with similiar problems. It overheats like there is no tomorrow, Electrical wiring is not great, and even the digital display malfunctioned( gas gauge) Now with my '05 Kodiak its been in shop to replace all four differential seals, tie rods under recall, and other minor wiring aggravation. Folks can yap all they want but you dont beat Polaris Fuji four strokes and older Honda 300 engines, (not bashing ive ownd honda also (rancher) and so have friends). I like my Kodiak alright, its a very nice machine but leaves much to be desired, especially in power even for a 421cc. Im not even gonna get started on "Power steering", hit the damn gym people. I dont trust yamaha with that for one spit eyed second. Before i get asked about why im not goin polaris since i praise them is money once again, I want a Sp 800 bad, BUT for the money i can get close power performance sacrificing some ride and handling for around $1500-1600 less. My bud's griz is also tippy as my kodiak is baddd, its like the irs works more like a semi-independent but oh well its still a good machine. People are going to like what they like, so thats cool, but the only machine that my friend rode to a 100 PERCENT GUARENTEE over 10,000 miles with virtually no maintence was his Trx honda 300 4x4 [img][/img] the lil boring quad that could lol. Good riding yall</end quote></div>
My 88 Honda 300 4X4 had never been ridden hard until this year, and here is a list of SOME of the stuff that I had to replace: rear diff., rear swingarm, complete front end(twice), piston rings(5 times), clutch(3 times), Brakes(two many to count), Tires(a couple times), wheels(3 times because they bent easily), front a-arms, cdi box, and many more. Honda wasn't very good then, and the've went downhill ever since.

I think its funny when people knock reliability right before they state that they "ride the quads harder than they were intended to be ridden". Blowing two engines on a Grizzly? Extremely hard to believe it wasn't "Operator Error". I would love to hear the circumstances behind it...
I ride my quads hard and put them through a lot, (as my pics will show) but I use common sense. I know why and when to use low gear, (you'd be surprised how many people don't) how deep I can go and what to avoid in order to keep my quads running at 99% efficiency...

My first yamaha was back in 1994 with the Timberwolf 250. Beat the hell out of it as any 12 year old would. Theni got the 4X4 timberwolf, again indistructable.
Polaris are Worthless.
I got my first polaris at 15 or 16 explorer 300 It lasted about 10 hours and went to hell with my dad riding it. My parents bought 2 SP 500's 04.5 and an 05. The first 400 miles on the 04.5 was great then the ECU went out and burned out the fan motor. got it all fixed under warrenty. The 05 had a recall on the ECU due to them starting fires on the ATV's, along with problems with the electrical system. Thats reliability at it's best, Right!
I also had a honda Rancher 350 ES also indistructable. Just a bit short of ground clearnce.
In 05 I got an AC 500 great machine will pull almost anyhting i want. will spin all 4 wiht dif lock pulling cars out of the tree's.
The 700 griz is great for jumps but doesn't pull as much as the cat due.
Now my dad has a 700 suzuki great machine, you just need to keep the battery charged since it drains. My mom has a 400 AC also a great machine.
My grandpa is a farmer with a polaris. but he has had to use mine more then a couple of times durn harvest because his popo is broekn.
