banshee engine in warrior frame
#1
i was just wondering if it was possible to fit a banshee engine in a warrior frame? cause i was comparing my friend's banshee frame to my old warrior and they look about the same

I have seen hayabuse 1300 motors in warriors before so anything is possible. As far as direct bolt in, no way. With a little ( or alot) of cutting and welding, almost any motor will fit. The hard part is making everything else fit. Banshee has a radiator and a decent size one at that. Would be tricky to find a nice clean place to weld one in. Also the pipes might give you a problem as 2 stroke pipes act different than 4 stroke pipes and altering them in any way can aqffect how they make power. I just remebered also from my warrior engine swap progect that the Banshee motor is not as fat as the warrior motor. Meaning, the rear sprocket on the warrior is set out farther away from the carrier than the banshee sprocket. In order for the chain to spin freely, you would have to either install a banshee swingarm onto the warrior and use all banshee rear suspension ie. axle, carrier, swingarm, sprocket and brake hubs OR set the motor in the frame shifted farther to one side which will probably give you clearance issues between the frame and the carbs/air filters. It took me 8 months to get my wifes warrior finished but it was worth all the work and cost less than a new bike. But I had tons of help.

Not hard really. Hardest part was making the oil tank and writing the check for the motor!!!. Exhaust has to be modified, oil tank made, oil cooler mounted, new mounts modded, and altering of the wiring. If you are really serious, I can send pictures of the motor mounts to give an idea. The 440 motor is currently out of the bike due to someone not torquing down the head bolt corrently and I had to get the stud holes helicoiled. All is fixed, just havent put it back in yet. Also if you do this, The warrior motor weighed in at 115lbs yes 115lbs!!!!. That was motor, carb and pipe. 400ex motor weighed in at 60lbs so you lose a lot of weight. I personnally did not weigh the 400 motor but that is what the shipping weight was.

I got it before the YFZ or TRX450s were out so I paid more than what they are now. I got the motor, oil cooler, oem oil tank (not used) stock carb (not used) and wiring for $1100. I paid more also due to the 440 kit, wiseco piston, cam, port work, and the clutch. $300 for the exhaust which had to be modified slightly and $250 for the 39mm FCR carb. So that makes $1650 and that took care of the motor.
