Default Quad or Bike?

Hello everyone. I need some advice. I have done a few Baja rides in the past & have always taken my 05 WR450 from Tecate done to San Felipe, Ensenada or Mike's. We have one planned for Oct & am thinking of riding my 03 660 Raptor this time. Every time I bring this up with my buddies they look at me like I am nuts but can't give me a reason why. Has anyone here ridden a quad, would it make it and is it easier then a 2 Bike? Why don't you see many Quads doing the same rides?

If you are going Baja, go with the DS650(x) it is by far the best sand/desert bike made.

What tires would you be using? What gearing? Would you need a bigger tank?

What fuel range do you have with your Raptor vs the bike? I can't see that fuel range would be a problem myself. Our YFZ will go just over 50 miles on the stock tank, whereas the YZF will only go 30 miles on the stock tank (at race speed). The quad is going to beat your body up a whole lot more than the bike will, and it will not match the pace of the bikes, unless the bike riders just cruise. That would be the biggest problem with taking a quad on a bike ride to Baja, the difference in pace between the two.

I've tried riding with quads and bikes together, and if the quad rider isn't a lot better than the bike riders, the bikes spend all day waiting. Like I said before, the difference in speed will be the biggest problem. We either take our bikes or our quads when we go for a trip, but not both.
