Wolverine ring and pinion
#3
There is different gearing for Wolverines but you have to tear into the trans to replace the 1st and 2nd gears. You replace them with Big Bear gears, which give a little more torque for low end. I'm not sure how or what exact parts have to be changed but maybe someone can elaborate a little more on this.

Maybe someday, if i can find some Big Bear gears like that i'll give it a try. would'nt the jump from a lower big bear 2nd gear to a higher wolverine 3rd gear be a little much, or isn't it that much of a jump? Thanks for the help

IMHO, it's not really worth it. I have a Wolverine and love it for what it is...it's a sport oriented 4x4. I ride with a lot of guys who have big bore 4x4 machines. I really don't have any issues keeping up or going most places they go. However, if I wanted to deep mudding, or get so stuck I need to winch out, I'd probably get a machine with more displacement and a locking front diff. Like I said, my machine is perfect for me, but I know it's limits.

LOL! It's a great machine and I love mine...but it certainly can't do everything a big bore can do.

No, you guys are almost right. The BB gears replace the Wolverine 4th and 5th, wheel gears and pinion gears in the tranny for more RPM drop in the higher gears which allows more top speed. A shift cam and segment will also be required in the swap. Overall I think you can do it your self for a little over $200. Back when I did it, I had about $220 in it.
