Default Wolverine Clutch Adjustment

I read some of the forums, and read my manual on adjusting the autoclutch on my Wolverine, and it sounded simple, i loosened the locknut, turned in untill i felt resistance, which i never really felt. I probably went in almost a full turn, and when i tested it, the clutch did seem to grab a little better, but the shift lever was all floppy, and it was like shifting without letting off the gas, and down shifting was very rough too. I turned it halfway back, so it shifted smoother, but still grabbed a little better. Anyone else ever have this problem on their wolverine? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

No, never had this problem, but I know the Yamaha's can shift hard. As long as your engine is not revving when your in gear going uphill or in mud, you should be ok with no clutch slippage and the least amount of wear on the clutch plates. I'd rather have a harder shift and no slippage than a soft shift with slippage.

The clutch adjustment on a Wolverine really has nothing to do with the ease of shifting. All you are doing is adjusting the free play before the pressure plate starts to disengage. If it is adjusted too tight, there is no freeplay and the pressure plate is already being disengaged some amount, before you start to move the shifter with your foot.

You need to re-try the procedure. If you follow it precisely, you should get to a point where it feels like the screw is harder to turn. Then go from there like described.
