Default Blaster rebuild? What does redoing the Top End entail?

There's no one in the area that does this, so I kinda have todo most things myslf. I was looking into a big bore kit. They're like $200+ with the sleeve, but with the sleeve in a cylinder and head, it's like $500+. Just need to be as economical as practicly possible. This project will be expensive.

Here is a article about boring the cylinder. It's by Rick Ritter He does good work. I would send your cylinder to him.

You could also send it to Hickman Racing. www.hickmanracing.com and have them do it. They redid the top end for about $160.00 and that included the piston. Give Jim a call @ 515-285-4332. They've been in business for quite a while and do great work.

Shaving the head will create more compression, and as long as you don't go crazy with it, it wont effect reliability, just a little more hp. The pipe on the other hand needs other mods to go with it, or you'll burn her up. If you open up the flow on the back you need to open up the flow on the front(high flow airfilter, airbox mods), and rejet the carb. if it's done properly, there will not be any reliability issues. But this thread is about when you've lost compression, and need a rebuild. Sleeve: mine's at 68.09mm, so I think i need a new one, but most times just a re-bore, new piston and rings. I don't know if most replace the wrist pin and berrings though. They seem cheap enough..might as well.
