leak in rear suspension?

there will be oily spots on the shock, usually right around the area where the shaft comes out of the body. Dependant on how bad it is, the shock will also become softer and less resistant to being compressed, and will spring back quicker than it should too.

Well the coolant resevoir was covered in a black oily substance..The shock squeaks but it really always did. I road it today pretty damn hard and it doesnt feel any different. Its the black stuff that worried me , and the squeak..Im still not sure where it came from..Thanks alot for the input..

I don't think they leak from the reservoir very often, especially with it being a piggyback. I wouldn't worry about it at all, because hey, if it's leaking there's nothing you can do to stop it at this point anyways, and if it does seem to get soft you can probably get a used one on ebay cheap.
