How do you know when the starter is bad?

When I go to start my rappy, I hear a grinding noise, like a blender. Everytime I hit the button I hear this but eventually it will kick over and start. Is this the starter or maybe battery problems?

ya its probably the starter.. My buddy had the same problem with his '02 Rappy...then he got rid of it [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
