Does anyone transport the Raptor 700 up on its back tires?

Any issues? Fuel leaks? Oil building up in the crankcase? etc.

I'm thinking of getting one but, don't want to get rid of my DS as I'd like to have a spare bike. Going to the trailer tomorrow to see if I can get the 250EX and the Raptor up and not take as much room.

They will fit. Turn the gas off and make sure they are very secure. If you want you can even drain the tank to make them less top heavy.

 

There is no gas shutoff on a 700. Only way to drain the tank is to take it off and dump it out, or, remove the fuel line and pump it out using the electric pump.

 

Well, If transporting them that way is a MUST! I would ADD a gas shut-off valve - cheap, easy to install

 

Mine leaks when its upright, it doesnt matter if the gas is on or off. I just sit her upright wth an empty tank, strap her down and go. I've had no problems

 

I didn't think mine would leak standing up. I had always stood it up with less than 3/4 of a tank. Last weekend I had just completely filled it up and stood it up and it started leaking out of the fuel cap.

 

This is because you have a carburated bike. He has a 700R which from what I last read they where fuel injected. So no need for a fuel shut off. The only thing I would worry about is fuel coming out of the top of the tank vent tube and oil coming out of the crankcase vent tube into the air box.

 

One way to do things is to get a spare gas cap with a tube vent and just pinch the tubing off it. Just have to change caps upon loading / unloading.

I'm looking to add a 700 to the stable. Wife has one and I'm thinking this may be my next bike. Just not sure I want to sell my DS yet. . . would like to have both if possible but, standing things up is the only way.

Gonna have to go over to the trailer to see how tough this will be. If it works. . . I may be looking real soon!

 

I know the 700 is fuel injected, I was stating that mine leaks upright, it doesnt matter if the gas is on or off on MY bike, it leaks. I have a bad gasket.

Just because a bike has a carb doesnt mean that it is going to leak when its upright. I've seen plenty of carburated quads standing upright fill a full - 1/2 tank of gas not one drop hits the ground
