Default sprocket set up. (warrior)

I have a 2001 warrior 350. right now im running stock sprockets. I want to make gear it to have faster top speed. I was wondering if there was a way to do that without sacraficing mi low first gear because that is nice for goin through the tight trails slow. If i replace the front sprocket with a 15 or 16 tooth. will that make it noticabley faster. will that also eliminate the low first gear though.

ps. by doin this would it be possible for me to beat a stock 2001 raptor 660 on the top end. or do i not stand a chance.(i think i wont stand a chance)
ani answers will be appreciated.

I would put a 14 tooth on the front and leave the rear stock. This will help your topend, but not take away too much from your bottom end. A 15 may stretch it and a 16 would be out of the question. No matter what you do, you wont stand a chance against a 660 Raptor. You may hang with them on top end with taller gearing, but they will blow by you as you are going thru your gears. If you want to beat a 660, I would buy another bike.

Taller gearing would definately help. The Warrior has plenty of low gearing in 1st gear. What size rear tires are you running?

Factory gearing is 13/40. With a stock engine I wouldn't go any higher than 14/40. A stock one probably won't even be able to pull all the way to the top of 6th with that 14. I'm running 14/40 with 22" tires and it could pull higher gearing, but I wouldn't want to because I do a lot of slow technical riding, rock climbing and the such, and need a stump-pulling low gear.

I am running 22 inch bear claws on the back. I also do a lot of technical riding though. that is why i was concerned about loosing that first gear torque. I thgink i will just leave the stock set up of sprockets on it. thanx
