the silcone just blew off and i am sick of buying silcone, should i just get a metal gasket welded onto the pipe. i don't mean the silencer i mean the pipe that connects to the motor. please repllie ASAP cause i might be racing tommarow.

 

HAVE YOU TRIED THE STOCK EXHAUST GASKETS? ON MY LT250 AND RAPTOR THERE ARE GASKETS THAT LOOK LIKE DONUTS, USE THOSE, THAT MIGHT STOP THE PROBLEM

 

It should have came with a gasket between the motor and pipe.

 

no it did not come witha gasket it had silcone when i bought it from the dealer. the guy said the preveious owner is an idiot because he did not rejet the carb, and he tried to run it on unleaded and it was suppose to run on race gas. but this quad is in good shape, it was sitting in a garage for a year and half then finnaly he got gave it to the dealer where i bought it from. the dealer was totally honest with me he also told me the piston was not the right size but he sold me the quad for 2,100, the did me a free favor by rejeting got new tires for it and cleaned the whole engine and helped me get the wiseco piston for cheap. is that gasket called a O-ring?

 

no its not called an o-ring, an o-ring is made of rubber used in hoses and stuff. i dont know who its called but it must be "exhaust gasket"

 

do you see the gasket in thislink its the round one in the middle of the lower gasket

 

if your going to use silicon, you need to remove the pipe and run a bead of silicon between the pipe and the motor, where the gasket should be, thus creating a seal. running a bead on the outside after its all bolted on is a waste of time and should be used as a temporary fix if need be.

 

i had a two stroke bike and if there grooves in the beginning of the pipe one or two and there only bout a 1/8 inch wide thts for the o rings cause my two stroke used them im pretty shure most of the twqo strokes these days use 2 o rings, john

 

That silicone will get blown out everytime. The Orings will work for you, give em a try.
