Default Grizz 700 Spark Plug and Idle Speed Info

Hi guys. I tried to search the site to no avail. I am curious what is the correct spark plug number for the Griz 700. I heard the service manual is wrong. Also, what is the correct idle speed setting?

Thanks in advance for the info.

CPR7EA-9/NGK Plug Gap 0.8-0.9mm or 0.031-0.035IN Idle 1550-1650RPM. You can set this with the use of your display pod. If you need info on how to access it let me know.

The idle speed seams high to me , i know that is what the book says .This is my first FI bike . Is there a reason it has to be so high.

Here are step by step instructions to program your stock Grizzly 700.

1. With the key in the off position, Hold "Select" & "Reset" and while holding them down turn the key on. The "d IAG" screen will pop up in 5-10 seconds.
2. Press the Select button to get it to the "Co" screen.
3. Hold "Select" & "Reset" again to get the "C1" screen to pop up.
4. Press "Select" & "Reset" again.
5. Press "Select" to raise the number and press "Reset" to lower the number.
6. Turn the key off to reset to the new settings.
7. Restart Quad
This is the way you program the FI setting. Factory is "0" My Grizz runs great at "0" but I did move it to +10 just to try it out. Note you can also go to a Negative setting if you want.
To Read PRMs Do steps 1 and 2. Stop at that point and turn your kill switch to run and start the motor. Your display will read RPMs. Take the number X10 and you have it. Reading 160 will be 1600 RPM. 155 will be 1550 RPM and so on. To reset your display just turn off the key and your back to normal. NOTE: DO read step 1. Key off hold the Select and reset down and give it some time. Display will change and then step 2 hold select and reset again. Start the Motor. Warm it up first. Then do steps to set RPM. Display does not read above 1900 RPM. With the motor up to temp I set my reading at 1600 or 160 on the display. This let it move around in the 1550 to 1650 area. Runs great.

I got my new Grizz and and it was raining. So I pulled it inside and took most of the plastic off with no mud on it yet I checked everything. I could to see if it was tight and so on. Learned alot. Took me three days before I took it out to the end of the drive. I ordered and keep spare little plastic clips so as I damaged or loose one I have them. Only two sizes I think. Do the service yourself. Best way to learn it. Book has all the real info you need. GET a Torque Wrench. Tighten as the book says. I do have a service manual. Got it on line from Yamaha direct. Got manual updates from dealer (FREE). Yamaha will sell the manual to me direct but not parts. Got to go to dealer for parts. Oh and not all skid plate bolts are the same size. There are long and short and it helps to get it right the first time. I learned the hard way. Make sure you know where the plugs are for checking the Diff oil levels. There are fill, check plugs. I almost took the wrong one out on the rear. I hope your dealer will look at one on the floor and answer your questions. Dealers know we want to service the easy things.
