Hey stupid, they said the raptor had new a-arms, (didn't want stock ones to break) swing arm, axle. The ds had none of this. It , ds, was comparable in every catigory. They even had about the same top speed. Might I suggest to you that you reread the story three times and stop posting lies.

2-stroke forever, the 250r will never die!

hotfmfblaster,
I'm still trying to figure out who your talking to. if your talking to me, then i suggest you dont call me "stupid" because you are the one that sounds "stupid" calling people names over the internet. When i replyed and said that the ds is a "differnt handling fourwheeler then the raptor", i was talking in stock form. If your talking in modified form (as in the magazine) then the ds still weighs 70 or so pounds more, and has more of a quicker handling/turning technique. I suggest you ride one and you will see what i'm talking about. I dont post "lies" just becuase, they are facts, and noone but the people that have ridden a ds will know what i'm talking about!
You also have shown me your How smart you are..just by the way you talk, calling me names, attacking me. How about stay on the subject of quads..."stupid"?

There seems to be alot of Raptor bashing goin on here. Do I need to go into a whole term paper again about how each one is good at its own thing? When I go riding I usually take a few trails about 15 mins to a quarry. If I had a DS, I would get stuck probably 5 times each way with each front tire pushed up against a tree. Thats why I bought a raptor. Not to mention there isn't a Bombardier dealership within 100 miles of here. If I rode in the dunes well then it would be a different story. I didn't read this article, but I see what they are saying about putting more $ into the raptor and having it be the same price as a DS. The raptor does retail for $6499 and the DS for $7299 so you could do more mods to the Raptor and keep it at the same price as the DS. And to whoever said that the dealers aren't selling Raptors for retail is wrong. The dealer I got mine from has had 10 raptors in and sold all of them for $6499, which is what I got mine for. He said he can't negotiate lower than that, but he can do retail.

Glad you were able to get the 'R' you wanted. Funny thing happened. A group of us went riding and the guy that bought my R was with us. He was talking some big do-do about how great he was. I was on our 98 Banshee and the wife was on the new one and some of us were hitting a pretty big step up. Well, this guy hits it and comes up really short and cartwheels the bike all the way down the hill. I wanted to cry, broken levers, factory plastic mangled. It wasn't pretty. The dude got pretty hurt and decided to sell the bike. He was going to sell it to a salvage yard in town for 1000 bucks, so I gave him a grand for it. All the damage was cosmetic. Some new bars and levers to make it ridable was all it needed. Plastic is garbage though. The Banshee is awfully nice for the dunes though.

All my buddies ride 400ex's. I took one for a spin and was very impressed. Horsepower is descent but the suspension and handling is almost as good as the 'R'. They seem like they sit a little higher. One of them has a 440 kit with the greydon proline exhaust and higher compression piston. It flat out walked away from the stock 'R' with FMF pipe on it. It was also faster than piped banshee's but the banshees were doing an awful lot of spinning. I was impressed nonetheless. I would take a closer look at the 400EX. Good luck.
