scrambler takes banshee in holeshot
#2
Maybe if the banshee driver is inexperienced at taking off and has to let off the gas as to not wheelie. Or maybe if there is bad traction since the Scrambler has TOTALLY automatic transmission so it wont spin as much. But if they are on some fairly decent surface for traction and the banshee rider has some experience with taking off, then there is no comparison. The Scrambler driver doesn't need any experience just needs one finger to hit the gas and then sit back and be bored.

yep its true. especially if the scrambler is 4x4
the reason is because the scram is an automatic. automatics are good for getting the holeshot over a manual clutch i hear. also with the added traction of 4 wheel drive and the way banshees spin their tires a lot then the scrambler should have the holeshot. but thats ok cuz the banshee will catch up.

Me and my buddy (banshee) race for fun quite often. I get the holeshot every time. Before you get all ritious on me, he does beat me most every time after about 200 feet.(99% of the time)
By the way 660R01...Quit being a dink! I love being bored on my Scrambler and would not trade it for the world. Try shifting gears in two feet of snow with huge winter boots on!
Merry X-Mas to all you ignorants who still think Polaris sucks!

As usual, when talking about drag racing posts, some will say I tell everyone BS, but this is what actually repeatedly happens.
I have the shee you can see in my signature (not much more than the K&N).
My riding buddy has a Scrambler with HPD pipe, clutching, same tires as me, Hot Seat springs and lately Works front shocks.
Each time we raced the issue has been the same.
We raced on sand. On take off, he was "easily" ahead, but could catch him in late 2nd (if I didn't miss gears). 2x4 or 4x4, the issue was the same, if I remember well.
Then we raced on a hard packed dirt road. Again, he flew away on take off. The road was quite gripless, and I had to "wait" until third to catch him.
On dirt gravel, same thing. Once though, the clutch wasn't completely released (hand protector's fault), and this time, I catched him in late 4th.
If he had better top speed...he could stay in front longer. He has MUCH better grip...and no shifting to care about.
So, yes, the scrambler can be caught in front of a Banshee.
Some might whine about my riding abilities...you can...but I've been racing MX bikes since 8, so I think I'm pretty used to starting, clutching and shifting (although there's always place for improvement).

Good post Zorro my freind. By the way, you didn't know that I was letting you win??? LOL
Maybe with the porting, 39mm carb, 12:1 Billet Head and a few other little gadgets I may stay ahead a bit longer.
Hmmmmm...lets say...all the way to the finish!
No big deal...it's fast enough for me!

What about a Raptor? 2WD vs. 2WD. That is if the Scrambler has a 2WD option. It may not, I don't know. I don't think its very equitable to compare a 4-stroke 4x4 to a 2-stroke 2WD off the line. The most important thing in a drag race is the launch! That requires traction and TORQUE! Need I say more?
If you wanted to race around a track, where HP is the rule, the out come would be lopsided in the opposite direction.
