Would some one who purchased skids please post what kind you got and how much they cost you?

I am pissed about the plastic so Im going to get new skids.
I went to change the oil and went to take the skid off, The engine skid was knocked up in the middle and rear, the head of a rear bolt holding it in is beat so bad I couldnt get a wrench on it, and one of the middle bolts is broke off .
Keep in mind, I have not been thrashing on my bike, and I have only hit maybe twice, so I am pretty mad since they could put a decent metal one on it.
Also Does any one know what the type of headlight bulb it uses, Is it only available at a dealer?

Thanks

I purchased the GYT-R full skid plate for the bottom, it was 85.95 at my dealer. I really like the fit and finish. The only downside to these skids from what I'm told is the fact that you need to saw a hole in them to make the AC nerf's fit.

As far as the plastic one being junk, just be glad that it was even there, my 200EX didn't have squat from the factory, and I could have cut the oil sump line on my first ride out!

Incidentally, whichever you purchase, remember that you'll either have to deal with oil all over the new one after the next oil change, or get some type of funnel setup, or take it off to complete the change.

If you're dealer charges more than $86 bucks for it, call around, there are three dealers in my area, and each was around that price. Don't put up with the atypical dealer price gouging.

Merry Christmas.

the gyt-r skid look the best and has protection for the water pump and hoses. as for the oil change i plan on putting a elbow were my plug is with a plug in it so the oil will drain down also will drill hole in skid for acces.

I just got a Prm Engine skid and let me say this is some good craftsmanship and is strong. The bottom is polished to shine and installs in minutes. They give u all new bolts to ur broken ones dont matter. I paid 80 bucks for mine. IT wraps up to guard the hoses just like the gytr skid and has a drain hole so no water will lay in the skid. I just installed today and I would say go with this skid. You will not be unhappy about!!

The PRM skids DO NOT have the hose protection thaT raps up like the GYT ones do. The PRM also has a drain hole that makes it easy and you dont get oil all in them.
I have been trying to choose between the two. It is a tuff decision. I dont know if I want all PRM or GYT-R.

I ordered the Graydon skids when I ordered the nerf bars. I would NOT reccomend the skids. They do not wrap up like the Yamaha's to protect the water pump, although you don't need that if you go with their nerf bars. The swing arm skid really sucks for several reasons but mostly because it doesn't wrap far enough around the sprocket and brake rotor to offer good protection. If I had it to do over I would order the Yamaha GYT-R skids. I bought the GYT-R A-arm skids and they are very well made and come with detailed instructions, something that you don't get with the Graydons.

The Graydon nerfs are great, however, just don't buy the skids.

As a matter of fact I own and installed the Prm engine skids and they do wrap up pretty high to protect the hoses just like the gytr skid. I do not know how far the gytr skids wrap up but the prms wrap up very high to me. They installed in about 3 minutes to install. I would go with this skid because of the quality and the thing dosent hang down anywhere to get hung up. The skid covers all the wat up to the front bumper which is very good. GO with Prm, for the price u cant beat it.
