Kodiak battery
#1
Hi guys, I was wondering what a reasonable price for a new battery would be? I have an 06 Kodiak 450.
Also, is there a trick to pull starting them like having them in neutral or somethig? Does the key need to be turned on or the choke on or off?
Thanks for any help.

It should not matter what gear it is in, however the key must be turned on and you may need to give it a little choke... i havent had a battery in my old polaris and been doing this for years... for your battery issue you can go to a walmart or something and get an ATV battery for about $40... They work just fine..

When you go to start it, you need to get it up on top dead center or just over and give it a crisp pull. Dont pull it like your chain saw or you will wind up with a broken rope or wrist which ever gives first. When they fire they start pretty easy. I think the battreys are completly sealed, if it where mine I'd spend the extra $ and go that way again.
Good luck.
Good luck.

You did not really pull start your 450 over a $40.00 battery? How did your batterty go bad so soon. I live in the desert and have 06 Kodiak also have drove the crap out of it and not even a hint of battery problems. Mayby you have another problem, lights dim? or even on? dirt in the switch, maby it needs a charge?? Try a couple of things b-4 ya throw in the towel and start hand starting.
