Blaster won't shift
Well guys, tore trans down this weekend. Shift arms look good, the rods were straight, and all the circlips were good. We found that the shifting rod was bent when we pulled it out so apparently its been stomped on pretty hard.
One other thing that surprised me was that my manual shows knocking out the trans with a rubber hammer from the back side but, the whole thing, shift drum and all just slid out before I knew what was going on. Should there be some kind of clip or something holding the shift drum in place? Is it possible that it's sliding around not allowing the shifting arms to slide correctly?
My uncle wants to buy a trans off ebay but I don't think there is any reason to. Everything seems to be checking out we just cant find the problem.

change oil
[QUOTE=Koopa;2371886]I have a '98 blaster tore down in the garage. The clutch got to slipping on it and my 12 year old cousin started learning to ride on it. He did a lot of dry shifting and clutch popping, of course, trying to learn. Next thing we know it don't want to shift into 3rd. We pulled it in for tear down and could work with it and get into 3rd but it didn't want to come out.
So, now I have it all tore down and this is a first for me working on the transmission. The shifting forks seem to be good. Will I notice immediately if they are bent? Anyone have any suggestions as to what else could be wrong? Anything to point me in the right direction would help. Mine was doing the same thing. Changed from 80/90 weight to 10w 30 and it works great shifts all the way into 6 gear.
