How does reserve work then?</end quote></div>
Basically it's an adjustable valve.
In the ON position, the fuel inlet tube that is part of the petcock inside the tank is riding approximately an inch or so above the bottom surface of the tank. If you run out of gas in the ON position, there is really that inch or so of fuel remaining in the bottom of the tank.
When you turn it OFF, it's closed.
When you turn it to RES, the inlet tube moves downard so that the inlet end of the tube is at the bottom of the tank, enabling you to use that remaining inch or so of fuel. If you run out of fuel now-your screwed.

Ahh I see. Kinda gives you a warning and then you know you have that reserve left. Not a bad idea. I have fixed my problem withg the stalling also. It was the plug and the air/feul screw. It was funny because all of this happened after I cleaned the K&N filter which was pretty dirty. I suspect that introduced more air and therefore made me need to make an adjustment to the air/fuel screw.
