I swamped my Raptor 700r
#1
So me and my brother in law both own 07' Raptors, well yesterday we thought it was a good idea to go through a lake to get to an island, well we made it out no problem. It was the way back that did us in, well we both went over the seat thus swamping the air box, I knew I was in too deep so I killed the engine, floated the quad out stood it up and drained the pipe and the air box wrang out the filter, and for the most part it started right up.
My question is, what damage could I have caused, or even may have caused, if so what should I do?

drain everything, change the oil till it gets good and clean no water in it at all, if it was still running, then you probably did not hurt anything, if it died then you go problems(maybe).
worst case scenario you need a new rod(means time to bore out that bad boy and put a high comp piston and everything else in at the same time. lol

I figured to change the oil today after I get home from work, it started right up after I got it out of the water, no white smoke, all seemed well, I'll see when I drain it. Thanks.
As for riding in lakes, it was fun, even swamping it was fun, although I don't really want to screw up the quad. You had to be there. If you have a pair, you wouldve done the same. I regret slowing down, I shouldve opened it wide but the front end was almost straight up in the air, so instead of flipping it in the water, I stalled it.

How would I know if I bent the rod anyway? would it make any noise or would it not start?
My wife swamped her bayou, and it took water but I got it home and changed the oil twice, because I did have a white foamy film in it, but i did all that and its running fine, to the best of my knowledge it is, i service it and a putt around the yard on hers playin' around and it don't seem to have any problems.
Where else does the water come in besides the exaust pipe and air box?

I have a pair, and a quad made to go through a lake, lol. I pulled my buddies DS650 home when he tried to become a 4x4 also. No pun intended, i learned by trying to take 180 degree turns at the same speed he does. Ones made for one thing, the other for its own

Ok, I'm sure I didn't hear anything on my quad but the wifes on the other hand may have an issue. I think that one is knocking a bit, but I thought it was just crappy gas............
