I have an 03 Raptor and I bought it used in 05. I love it. I put a trail tech computor on it and compared it the speedo and milleage w/stock speedo's on other quads an it is accurate. So in stating this I feel that I am accurate;I topped out my Raptor @ 72MPH. That is stock the way I got it. Stock jets and stock pipe. It has been real reliable until recently. I have a startinig issue. I am currently looking into it. If you want to see what kind of parts and upgrades are available look on EBay and Rocky Mountain ATV. That should give you a idea.

is the 660 raptor reliable.and also is it fast, and does it have a good selection of performance upgrades for it</end quote></div>
Mine has been very reliable. Most are reliable in stock form. But suggest staying away from model year 2001. Tranny updated in '02. Lots of upgrades available, but I've noticed not much new stuff coming out (due to the new Raptor 700's replaced it).

$2k is a good price if the bike looks in decent shape.
The tranny was never recalled and it's around $700 in parts to swap it out with the newer 2002 gear set. The 2001 gears are weaker (but mine lasted almost 7 years). You shouldn't see a problem with the tranny unless you start building the motor (more power, weak gears = trouble).
The one-way on the starter can be a problem. I never had a problem with mine, but when I built my motor up last January, I replaced it with an aftermarket design. The stock one-way won't hold up to the higer compression.
