You might want to check out the Haynes Manual also. It is about $20 and gives info the service manual doesn't. The service manual assumes you have worked on quads before and doesn't explain things very well. To remove the drive axle from the rear diff for example, the service manual doesn't tell you how to get it out. After unhooking it from the brackets etc you only need to give it a good jerk and it pops out of the diff. Very simple to do, but if you haven't done it before it wouldn't be the first thing I would try.

You"ll need a needle adapter for your grease gun to be able to grease the front drive shaft. You got to move her back or foward to get the fitting just in the right place to be able to access it. The needle point just pushs right against the ball bearing. You can get one at your local auto parts store or sears. heres a link so you"ll know what one looks like.

I got the Haynes as a complement to the factory service manual. Both books have their weak and strong points. Because the Haynes covers so many different models it can be a little confusing. Also the photos in the Haynes are good to have. The service manual is mainly for an 04 I believe, which is a solid rear axle. They publish a small second manual that covers the things that are different in the 05, like the IRS. If you get the Factory service manual, you have to order both books. I consider the service manual to be the gospel and use the Haynes to fill in the blanks. If you can't afford the service manual right away, the Haynes is a good place to start.
