If you replace your air filter, do you have to apply any grease or anything else to the filter??

yea you normally add a little oil to it if it didn't come preoiled.

put a small amount of oil in a bag and put it the filter.
massage the oil in without messing up the filter.

Yes, there is a specific Air filter oil you are supposed to use. That being said I do know quite a few guys that will use motor oil, however due to the weight of motor oil it tends to seep to the bottom leaving the top of the filter dry and succeptable to dirt.

Yes they have filter Oil in a variety of brands. You should be able to get it at any atv dealer.

Is this a foam reusable filter? My atv has a foam filter over a metal holder. I pull the foam off and clean it, re-oil it and put it back on the holder. I put a small amount of grease on the rubber gasket that seals against the side of the air box. The only reason to replace it would be if it was damaged. Also you can get spray on filter oil that is easy to apply but more expensive. I was told by a long time dirt biker that 30wt motor oil is just fine.

Filter oil sure feels a lot more tacky (traps more dirt) than regular motor oil and it just isn't that expensive so I use it.

I purchased one liter of Twin Air filter oil for $15 and it lasted through several air filter cleanings. Pretty cheap insurance to protect your engine if you ask me.
