Timberwolf 1993
#1
Working on a friends 1993 timberwolf, that has been sitting for years, I bought a carb rebuid kit and cleaned out the carb, out it to run but not the best. The dealer told me the air screw should be 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 turns out, and the needle clip in the middle. If runs great when warmed up and will continue to start when warm, but getting it going after its cold is the problem, not freezing cold just not started for a couple of hours, Live in nebraska any help would be great, has all factory jets still in carb
Thanks

up there it gets cold quick(what part you in?), check your valve adjustments, and spark plug first off make sure the adjustment is in proper specs and the plug is good and in the right heat range.
Hope that helps.

Hard cold starting means its lean. Remove the air filter and cover the intake with your hand.. if it starts up right away it means its not getting enough fuel for cold starting. Bring the fuel screw out a bit more. Remove the choke plunger from the carb and see if its sliding as you open and close the choke. . If you take the carb off again, double check that the choke plunger and pilot passages are clean. Remove the bowl and pilot screw (the one on the outside of the bowl that you set to 1-2.5 turns out) and remove the smaller jet inside the bowl. Spray carb cleaner into both holes. The cleaner should come out of the other hole and also out of a hole near the air intake side of the carb.
And like ctateusa1 said, check the valves. .004 on the intake and .006 should be pretty safe.

Everything above is sound advice, Here are a couple other quirky things I have tried on my daughter's cold blooded T-wolf.
*Use the electric start with the choke off, and put the choke on once firing
*Use the pull start with the choke on, usually first pull
*8809 champion powertoy plug over a standard ngk
*I bump the idle in cold weather
I adjusted the valves when we first got ours off e-bay and it started and ran much better. I had hard cold start, but a plug showing a rich mixture?? It has been a cold blooded little bike, but runs forever once started. It may run better the more he runs it. Consider 1 oz Seafoam to gallon of gas to maintain carb and combustion chamber? Good Luck

i cant help you with the cold start but I can attest to the timberwolf being a little bt solid piece of work. my buddy had one and he rode that thing into the ground but it always kept on chugging along. great bike

My parents bought me a 1995 T-Wolf back in the Day. The 4x4 and 2wd Great bikes. Except for the Little steel holding the read fenders in place or the reverse shift lever when you get stuck in snow. Other then that it is indistructable. Never had any mechanical problems. Like all yamaha's cold blodded SOB.
