that's funny since they are about the only quads made in the U.S. I loved my polaris sportsman. plenty of power and damn near bulletproof. I rode it like a sport quad and never had any trouble at all. in my opinion, it has one of the best 4 wheel drive systems out there. my friend has a yamaha and he likes it but wish is was more comfortable.

I got a 98 Sportsman 335, Love it. Itll do anything I want go anywhere i want. The only problem I had was a stator went bad about 3 years ago. Starts everytime wether its 100 degrees or 0 degrees. A buddy of mine has a Griz 450 and a 660. The 450 is always givin him problems. As far as i know the 660 runs like a champ. Yamahas 4 wheel drive is a lot nicer than Polaris's, but for reliability go polaris

Grizzly 660 vs Sportman 700
I have 2 buddies that both have 05 700 sportsmans. They have booth been very good machines. As far as I know the only problems either of them have had is CV boots and a fan motor. Ive had way more problems with my grizzly but most of my problems have been my own fault (going way too deep). I also have anougher buddy that both him and his father-in law have 05 grizzlys and they have had NO problems thus far. It all depends how you ride them, if you baby them you probly wont have problems with either.

I've had a few bikes thus far and last year I crossed over from a Yamaha Raptor to a Sportsman 500 HO because I got a deal. I must say after riding several other bikes that the Polaris had the best ride by far. It also had plenty of power for my liking but seemed to have a lot of body roll and just felt heavy to handle on the trail. I must say, I was very disappointed with the On-Demand AWD as it was unpredictable and I often had to spin the tires quite a bit to keep it engaged. The last thing I want when climbing hills is to spin the tires just to get 4wd to kick in. It also seemed that the fan would run nearly all the time in any weather over 80F.
I sold the Polaris and went back to Yamaha and now have a 660 Grizzly. Although the ride is not as plush, the bike is considerably lighter and nimble on the trail. It also has a proven, true locking 4wd system that is top notch in my book. It works when I engage it and the diff-lock performs flawlessly. Now I can climb hills and over rocks at my pace, with confidence.
On a side note, I never had any mechanical falures outside of routine maintenance with either bike.
