My Name Says It All

man it ain't even worth it anymore these guys don't ride, you asked them a completely staight forward question and neither one could answer it, my raptor let me down on expected power to,i was use to forth gear holeshots of my 310r and this raptor will never ever be able to hold a candle to my honda,my 400ex was nice but slow cause it was all stock motorwise,i have got 9000 in my raptor and the only thing done to the engine is a biggun complete and a pro flo,the rest was spent on arms, shocks, axel, graphics, brakelines, etc.i will probably have 12000 in it when my carbon rims come in and my swingarm and chain, and new chain sliders, but i don't have to buy $5.30 a gallon race gas,or $12 a quart oil or deal with those nasty compression kick backs while trying to start a 220 lb of compression machine,my quad will be bad in a few more months, the jetting is a pain but that comes with the territory, post some mods about your raptor in detail and maybe we can figure this thing out,

fasternu, Thats cool that you built your own quad with a 500 motor BUT dont talk down anybodies raptor! Ya sure on a staight out drag race ( which a fool could do) your quad would win. Put us on a HS track or just out in the woods and I'll spank your 500 no problem. So your not fasernme unless were going in a straight line which has no turns, so fast quad doesnt mean anything its all about braking and cornering when racing. I dont care what your on theres people out ther that would beat everyone in here on a mojave on a track so its not the quad its the people who ride them.

You Raptor boys are missing the point...
Its a 660 ... 400's and 350'S Shouldn't run with it. The Raptor was supposed to be the baddest ever, even stock.. and most raptor owners are disappointed. if not why are you all rushing to modify them..

Gabe,
Thank you very much for enforcing what I said earlier. Refering to the twin carbs on a single cylinder. 1 carb feeding 2 valves and 1 carb feeding 1 valve.
I think it's gonna take some time for the shops and aftermarket companies to figure out how to jet these Raptors properly.
If dialed-in correctly a 660 motor should spank most other factory quads.

I to have been riding dirtbikes, three wheelers, four wheelers, six wheelers, and just about any atv you can think of. 500 quadracers, had two of them, banshees two of them, 350x's two of them. Not to mention a cr500, 250 and 125. You could probably imagine that I had to have a raptor when they first came out. I did, for about a month, then I sold it because i was very dissapointed. Yamaha said that it was the fastest most powerful atv ever made. Well that certainly is not the case. I'll take a quadzilla or banshee any day.

I'm completely astounded that there are so many that actually care whether Ihatemyraptor actually hates his Raptor. What difference does that make to you? I'm sure all of us were surprised that they [Yamaha] didn't just put a street bike engine in the Raptor and be done with it. But then again that wouldn't do anything for sales. If they came out with a quad that completely devastated the ATV market they would shoot themselves in the foot because competition would become necessary. Yamaha could not build a quad that would completely outstrip the Banshee because it would cause a complete upset in the market both of new machines AND aftermarket suppliers. So they again [all manufacturers] continue to build machines that lack quality, finish AND power. Why is it that Honda didn't build a 650 fourstroke to compete with the Banshee? Because they could come close enough with a 400. Why does the Banshee have the same design as it had when it first came out? Because the tooling is paid for and people keep buying them. We can see from this post alone that faster and more powerful quads can be made with engines that are available but the manufacturers refuse to use them. The only reason that Yamaha came out with the Raptor is the inevitable banning of 2strokes. The Raptor or any other make machine will not be able to replace the ultimate speed of the Banshee until the Banshee is banned. By then the aftermarket people will have a new start on the rediculously expensive add ons and the Raptor engineers will "discover" why the Raptor needs a new topend. It also merits noting that there is NO atv magazine that will EVER give a competely accurate assesment on ANY atv. The reason being they are PAID BY THE MANUFACTURERS!!! Who do you think continues to put ad after ad in atv magazines that a- have nothing new to say, and
b- have nothing new to show?
To put it in street terms ...
The magazines are the ho's
and the Manufacturers are the pimps.
The mags know where their next meal comes from. I read the mags that said the Raptor was the best there is and for some out there it is. But when you actually read what was said about it, it just doesn't do what EVERYONE said it would. If some of us on the forum ride Raptors and love them then GOOD FOR YOU!!! Your ride is not appreciated by someone else that has one. This arguement is like two guys saying "my fat girlfriend treats me bad" and the other guy saying "her twin sister treats me just fine and stop calling her fat!"
It's pitiful and laughable.

I remember when the 400ex came out.It was supposed to be the baddboy. And it was around where I live. Now the raptor came out and it is the new badboy. Why because it is new and everybody wants one.Why does everybody want one?Because stupid dirtwheels said it is faster than a 400ex and they want the baddest thing out there. And the 400 riders where the same way as the raptor riders are now.Anybody that says one thing about there badboy is going to catch a tremendous amount of crap for it!I ride a Modified 250r that I would really like to race a raptor with.No not a dragrace but on a mx track.Hopefully there is one january 21st at the next race!I will honeslty say without a doubt I "AIN'T SCEERT!If anybody lives within the area of festus missori that has a raptor.I will put my qaud where my mouth is!

Usually scramdaddy would jump at the chance to post my opinion here (I'm not a big raptor fan), but I've been kicked off twice for doing so (I get pretty offensive to unintelligent comments about my scrambler).
Now I've got Dave Beckstrom watching over me like a hawk so I have to watch what I say.
Quoting Xplor "Ugh...I love my Polaris."
