Default Kodiak Front diff

Just bought an 06 kodiak 450 and was checking everything out and when I turn the front right wheel it feels really notchy in rwd. At first I thought it needed wheel bearings but took it apart and they are fine so now its in the front diff but when I lock up the front diff its hard to tell but it feels fine. So is it just the diff slipping when its in rwd or could it be the bearings in the front diff.

Well - if it feels "notchy" it could be the right front CV Axle itself. CV Axles being worn will give you that "notchy" sound/feeling. Is the clutch stock on that machine? How many miles on it?

I would support the whole quad up on a stand and put it in 4x4 (open diff) and hold the right wheel so the power will be transfered to the left wheel and LISTEN / FEEL. Then hold the Left and LISTEN/FEEL the right side..

Let us know

also - doh! I have been busy.. I will get that manual in the Mail to you Thurs Am.

Its the stock clutch with 900Km's on it. I had it on a stand and had the wheels off and was turning the hub and thats when it feels notchy, by turning the tire you cant really tell. The left side feels fine just the right side when the diff is open is rough. When its locked it harder to tell because its really hard to turn all four ends but it seems to feel fine then. So I am hopeing its just the open diff spinning and it normal.

Have you checked the Front Diff fluid (gear oil)? SO you are saying with all the wheels off, an you try to rotate the Right side (passenger) side that the HUB is Notchy?

I am curious now... when I get home tonight I am gonna jack the front and see if my Grizz feels the same...

Exactly, only the right side. It was a little milky when I got it but I changed it.
