The more I drive my van the more I like it. I finally got the idle system on the carb working properly so it'll fire right up and idle like it's supposed to. You used to have to hold your foot on the pedal until it warmed up, especially in the winter. If I could just figure out what was causing it to run so rich I'd be all set. There are so many disconnected vacuum lines and random hoses that I don't know where to start. Some are for the a/c system that was removed, some are from the emissions system, also removed, and so far the most suspicious thing I can see is that it almost looks like my fuel return line has been cut and capped off. I don't know why anybody would do this though, unless maybe the fuel pump was starting to get weak, or there is a leak somewhere in the return line and somebody was too lazy to fix it. That wouldn't surprise me at all.
I especially like the sound of it, it just has this sound that is unimaginably better than anything you'd think would come out of an old van. dual 2 1/2" exhaust all the way back, dumping right in front of the rear tire on each side. Dual flowmaster 40 series mufflers, and of course the dual dynatech drag racing catalytic converters. It's not loud inside with the windows up, but outside the van it sounds like a tuned up hot rod.

hmmm damn it just short of what i would need cause it's about 13 ft for 2 wheelers. i could probably just get a normal one and a trailer. as for all your hoses take some starting fluid and start spray by the hoses if they are suck plug em you're idle should go up a little if they are sucking. if it was me i'd just plug almost all of them cept the PCV

Well all the vacuum lines are plugged already, whoever did it just randomly shoved whatever would fit into the ends of the lines. I have wire nuts, wood screws, and even a couple bolts in what I think is the fuel return line. I actually have a vacuum gauge installed in the van on the a-pillar, and to the best I can tell it doesn't have any leaks so I've left that alone.
I try to avoid spending a lot of time and money working on it. The most time I spent on it is when I got it. It looked so bad, body panels different colors and paint peeled, a good bit of rust damage behind the rear wheels, and surface rust all over it. I repaired the worst of the body damage, patched up the rust, and gave it a quick cheap paint job which turned out pretty good for a total of $80 invested, half of that being the paint gun itself.

yeah you can't beat something like that. you just buy it use it while you can and when it falls apart throw it away and get something with EFI. thats why i want something cheap so when it dies i wont be to butt hurt about it

recon what carb is on that 318? You if its a quadrjet you may look into getting it rebuilt, that will help with power and fuel mileage. Or swicth to a 2 barrel???? and get just as much power...
If its a quadrejet, make sure whoever you have rebuild it KNOWS what they are doing, it took 3 rebuilds on one i had to get it right, there is a internal vacumn or something that has to be done right or it won't run right..
