i've replaced and repaired:crank, piston, bored out, stator, swingarm, front shocks, wiring, clucth, sidecase, brakes, lots of bearings, transmission bearings, all cables, throttle, air filter, muffler.....it doesn't have reliability problems now.......it DID have a bunch of old parts...but ANY 14 year old quad thats been put thru hell is gonna have its problems

I was at the Reedsport dunes in Oregon almost a month ago, and these are the experiences that I had (my '01 Raptor vs. a friend's '99 Banshee). The only mods that he had were Holeshot XC rear tires (22x11x9). The only mods that I had at the time were GYT-R skids, handlebars, and clutch perch- like those do anything in drags...).
From a dead start, I would pull him all the way to fifth gear. From a rolling first gear start, I would still pull him. This was in dry, loose sand, with the temp in the low 70s, sunny day, with a slight ocean breeze and some sea gulls over head.
